KENT, Ohio - No. 1 Kent State successfully defended home turf in the Mid-American Conference Tournament semifinal on Friday, surviving and advancing after a 2-1 win against No. 4 Ball State.
The Golden Flashes will face No. 2 Miami, who beat No. 3 Longwood 3-2 in double overtime, on Saturday at 2 p.m. for the championship. It will be a rematch of last year's tournament final when Kent State won 3-2 in double overtime.
It took 14 minutes for the scoring to get started as Madison Thompson connected on a shot deflection to put the Flashes up 1-0.
