Field Hockey stumbles in home opener

For the first time all season, the Kent State field hockey team played in front of a home crowd this Friday.

The Flashes (4-8, 1-1 Mid-American Conference) fell by a score of 1-0 to Miami (OH) (5-6, 3-0 MAC). The game ended an 11-game road trip for the Flashes, who had to wait for the renovations at Murphy-Mellis Field to be finished before they could host a match.

The Redhawks lone goal came in the 6th minute when junior, Paula Portugal, knocked the shot in after fellow junior Estel Roig set it up with an inserter from a penalty corner.
