The Kent State field hockey team recorded their first win of the year Saturday when they beat St. Francis University (2-2) by a final score of 1-0, before falling to Louisville (3-1) Sunday.

The Flashes' matchup against St. Francis was a defensive one, as they allowed the Red Flash to record four shots on goal.

The lone goal of the match came in the 14th minute when junior Helen Harper took a pass from junior Courtney Weise, and roped it into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The Red Flash had their best opportunity to score in the 57th minute when sophomore Taylor Nesmith had a breakaway opportunity, but missed wide left.
