Field Hockey Falls in St. Louis to Spiders

ST. LOUIS – The Kent State University field hockey team (3-7-0) dropped the first of two weekend matches against the Richmond Spiders (2-7-0), 3-2, Saturday.

Kent State found themselves behind early, when Richmond scored in the 12th minute. The unassisted goal was scored by Cadera Rich Smith from the right side. Kent State went on the attack immediately, outshooting Richmond, 9-2, over the next 20 minutes. However, Richmond would counter and build the lead, scoring goals in the 34th and 35th minutes to go up, 3-0, at the break.

Kent State kept the pressure on in the second half.
