CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State gymnast Rachel DeCavitch was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and to the All-MAC Second Team, the conference announced Monday.
She is just the fifth Golden Flash to be named MAC Freshman of the Year and the first since Rachel Stypinski in 2015.
DeCavitch began her collegiate career on fire, winning two MAC Gymnasts of the Week in the first four weeks of the season. She swept every event and posted a career-high all-around score at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational (39.400) to win the first of her five all-around titles this season.
