KENT, Ohio — Kent State dropped a 61-58 Mid-American Conference women's basketball contest at Miami on a Peyton Scott three-pointer at the buzzer on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Flashes (10-7, 9-5 MAC) played outstanding defense for the first nine minutes of the fourth quarter, holding the RedHawks to five points on 0-for-11 from shooting from the floor.
Scott finally got the ball to go through the basket through contact on a drive to the basket and sank the free throw for a 58-58 tie with 51.7 seconds to play. Sophomore Katie Shumate was unable to connect on a three-point attempt and the ball went back to the hosts with 21.
