Bittinger’s Big Night Leads Kent State to Five-Set Victory Over Western Michigan

KENT, Ohio – Playing a fifth set for the third consecutive match, Kent State displayed grit and determination to pull out a 3-2 (25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 26-28, 15-10), victory in front of the home fans Friday night at the M.A.C. Center. Junior Kelsey Bittinger led the way with 18 kills and a career-high 30 digs.

The Golden Flashes (12-10, 5-4 MAC) evened their record to 3-3 in five-set matches this season and move back above .500 in Mid-American Conference play.

In a match that featured 48 ties and 24 lead changes, it was fitting that the squads alternated scoring the first 12 points in the fifth set.
