RALEIGH, N.C. – Scott Benco opened the 2022 outdoor season with a personal-best mark of 219'-8" in the men's javelin throw as the Kent State track and field program began action at the Raleigh Relays on Friday.
After a foul on his first attempt of the day, Benco unleashed a throw that beat his previous PR by two feet and moves him into seventh on the Golden Flashes' all-time performance list. He entered the finals in fifth place and finished sixth. Bradley Heck also had a strong showing, just missing the finals and placing 10th with a throw of 196'-7".
