Kent State sophomore punter Derek Adams (Manheim, Pa.) was named Mid-American Conference East Division Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. Following the Golden Flashes game against Buffalo this past Saturday, Adams moved into eighth place among the NCAA FBS leaders in punting average (45.8).
On four punts against the Bulls, Adams averaged 48.5 yards, placing three of them inside the 20 yard line. Eleven of his 34 punts on the year have gone 50 yards or more, while 13 have been pinned inside the 20.
The Golden Flashes currently rank 28th in the nation in net punting.
