More than 50,000 fans cheered emphatically as Morgan Burns returned the opening kick off Saturday evening for a 100-yard touchdown to open the season against the South Dakota Coyotes.
Burns’ teammates were cheering him on too, though perhaps not all for the same reasons.
In the case of Dalton Risner, he was hoping Burns would get all the way to the end zone so he could have just a little more time to calm his nerves before making his collegiate football debut at center for the Wildcats.
“We had a lot of young guys getting in there for the first time — especially me,” Risner said Tuesday.
