Women sit in fifth after day one

Through one day of the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, the K-State women’s golf team sits in fifth place with a team score of 580. Two separate rounds of 18 holes were scored today, and the team had rounds of 296 and 284 to put them in the top five behind Missouri, Middle Tennessee State, Iowa and South Florida.

The women were led individually by sophomore Connie Jaffrey who carded rounds of 71 and 70 to finish at three-under-par and tie for eighth place with Elisa Suarez from Iowa and Samantha Gotcher from Middle Tennessee State.

Not far behind Jaffrey was junior Katherine Gravel-Coursol who had scores of 72 and 71 placing her at one-under-par and tied for 11th place with South Florida’s Maria Rodriguez and Wichita State’s Taryn Torgerson.
