SLATE: Kansas State rowing once again takes third at Big 12s

Another Big 12 Rowing Championship, another third-place finish for K-State. At Melton Hill Lake yesterday, K-State earned 91 points on the back of a second-place finish by the 2v8 crew and a third-place effort by the 1v4s.

Of course, there are two different sets of points to deal with here. K-State finished behind Texas (137) and Oklahoma (106) in the conference race, but in the points which determine who gets the automatic qualifier for the NCAA championships, the Wildcats finished fourth with 23 points, trailing Texas (42), Alabama (31), and Oklahoma (30).

The NCAA selection show is tomorrow at 4:00; it’s probably not likely that the Cats will be chosen, and the athletic department’s own report linked above indicates the season is over.
