HOUSTON — Jesse Ertz and Trevor Knight have two completely different stories.
Yet they’re similar.
Ertz was dubbed the Kansas State starter before the 2015 season but suffered a season-ending injury on the first play of the year.
Knight fought to be the starter at Oklahoma before leaving for a fresh start at Texas A&M.
Their comeback stories culminate this week at the Texas Bowl at 8 p.m. on Wednesday on ESPN.
Their paths could have intersected even more. Knight lost the starting job to Baker Mayfield at Oklahoma before the 2015 season. He looked around, and even talked to K-State coach Bill Snyder, before eventually landing at Texas A&M.
