Kansas beats Kansas State 77-59, but game leaves both coaches angry

LAWRENCE

Bill Self wouldn’t usually be incensed with an 18-point winning margin, but that was the case Wednesday after Kansas ran past Kansas State 77-59.

The Jayhawks won by a deceptively wide margin. Kansas State played better than it had in recent trips to Allen Fieldhouse. But Kansas wore out the Wildcats toward the end and ran away.

Too far, according to Self.

As the final seconds ticked off, junior guard Brannen Greene scored on an uncontested dunk before the buzzer.

Self was furious. He called it a “(expletive) move” on his postgame radio show and before taking questions at his postgame news conference issued an apology.
