K-State kicker Jack Cantele's winning field goal a reason to celebrate

MANHATTAN — Jack Cantele may have to serve a light penance for his transgression, but he is more than happy to take his punishment.

Cantele converted a 42-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to cap Kansas State’s comeback from a 21-point halftime deficit and beat Iowa State 38-35 on Saturday. In the midst of the celebration, Cantele took off his helmet while still on the field, drawing a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct that was assessed on the ensuing kickoff.

“It means he’s going to have to do some extra running for taking his hat off to get us penalized,” coach Bill Snyder, a stickler for rules enforcement, said with a smile.
