K-State football greats inducted to Ring of Honor

MANHATTAN — Coming out of junior college, Michael Bishop wasn’t regarded as a top-flight quarterback prospect by some major programs.

Darren Sproles’ potential was in doubt because of his diminutive stature, and Jordy Nelson was a small-town kid who was overlooked.

The one program that saw something in all three was Kansas State and coach Bill Snyder. They developed into one of the best, if not the best, at their position in K-State history, and Friday they were inducted in the Ring of Honor along with Clarence Scott.

“It was a slow start to begin with at safety, but thank goodness coach Snyder and his brilliant football mind decided to switch me over to receiver,” said Nelson, a consensus All-American in 2007 and an eight-year NFL veteran with the Green Bay Packers.
