K-State football announces the signing of 21 players

MANHATTAN — Signing day proceeded as expected for Kansas State’s football team Wednesday morning with no surprises.

K-State has announced the signing of 21 players, including seven who already on on campus.

Among the players joining the Wildcats were Topeka High running back Mike McCoy, quarterback Skylar Thompson from Independence, Mo., and Holton fullback Mason Barta.

McCoy, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound running back, was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 5 prospect in the state of Kansas and No. 27 nationally on the running back ratings. He rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns last fall for the Trojans and was the Capital-Journal city player of the year and all-Class 6A.
