Kansas State freshman Ana Garcia Navas — with a pair of singles and doubles wins to lead the Wildcats to a perfect weekend — was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Wednesday.
It’s the first player of the week honor for a K-State tennis player since 2011.
A native of Valencia, Spain, Garcia Navas moved up to the No. 1 position in singles last week for the first time and notched straight-set wins over Mary Meyers of Air Force (6-0, 6-2) and Mariel Ante of Drake (6-1, 6-3).
The two singles victories improved Garcia Navas’ record to 5-2 in dual matches and 11-6 over the fall and spring.
