Gamecocks too much for Cats in second round

COLUMBIA, S.C. — There will be no Sweet 16 for the Kansas State women this season.

The Wildcats — playing one of the most dominant basketball programs in the country on its home court — had their season come to end with a 73-47 loss to No. 1-seed South Carolina on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Championship at Colonial Life Arena.

“I’m disappointed because I know we could have played better than that and they played great,” K-State junior point guard Kindred Wesemann said. “It’s disappointing, but the way we started conference going 0-4, nobody thought we’d even be here.
