Kansas’ No. 2-ranked basketball team found itself down by 12 points to unranked, mid-major Louisiana midway through the first half of Friday’s nonconference clash at storied Allen Fieldhouse.
An uncomfortable position, to be sure, for KU, which lost two points via free throws due to a flagrant foul by Mitch Lightfoot, and two more following a technical foul by Bill Self.
However, the Jayhawks, who were led by Lagerald Vick’s 18 first-half points (33 points for the game) turned a 32-20 deficit into a 44-41 halftime lead en route to a narrow 89-76 victory over the Ragin’ Cajuns of the Sun Belt Conference
Vick — who hit eight threes for KU in Monday’s win over Vermont in as many attempts — hit 7 threes in 12 tries and 11 of 18 shots overall en route to his career-high 33-point outing on Friday.
