As a result of testimony given in the federal trial into corruption in college basketball, Silvio de Sousa will be indefinitely withheld from competition, including KU’s first exhibition game on Thursday night vs Emporia State.
It appears as if the eligibility review will be a joint effort between the University and the NCAA.
Information was presented during the current trial in New York — some of which we knew, some of which we didn’t. We have decided to withhold Silvio from competition until we can evaluate and understand the new information. We have already discussed trial developments with the NCAA and will continue to work with NCAA staff moving forward.
