No. 3 Kansas survives quiet first half, defeats Texas 76-67

The run that saved Kansas from another afternoon of questions and concerns and sky-is-falling defeatism started in quiet fashion. Perry Ellis made a layup.

The bucket came with 17:01 remaining on Saturday afternoon. The Kansas Jayhawks trailed Texas by seven points. Allen Fieldhouse was in a collective state of anxiety. For close to two weeks, the Jayhawks had searched for ways to emerge from a January lull. They had lost two of three, lost their No. 1 ranking, and had their confidence shaken in a 19-point loss at Oklahoma State on Tuesday night.

Then Ellis made a layup, the Kansas defense kicked into gear, and the run began.
