KU's perimeter defense to be tested against Texas

LAWRENCE — After watching film, Bill Self came to a few conclusions about his team’s defense following Tuesday’s 86-67 loss to Oklahoma State.

The biggest one was that his team’s fatal flaw in its last two losses has been guarding the ball. For example, OSU’s Jawun Evans was able to race time and again around KU’s guards, scoring a game-high 22 points while adding eight assists.

The defensive assignment for KU doesn’t get any easier Saturday, as Texas enters with one of the quickest players in the nation in 6-foot-3 junior Isaiah Taylor.

The UT guard, whom Self describes as a “jet,” has given KU problems in the past, averaging 20 points in two contests against the Jayhawks a year ago.
