LAWRENCE — Kansas athletic director Sheahon Zenger confirmed Monday that KU will be constructing a state-of-the-art apartment complex that will house all athletes that are not men’s basketball players.
The facility, which will be near 19th and Ousdahl — between the old Jayhawk Soccer Complex and Iowa Street — will have up to 750 beds, with KU athletes expected to take 220-250 of those.
“It’s a great indicator of the relationship between the university and athletics, and particularly (KU student housing director) Diana Robertson and her leadership and what she’s doing on campus with the Self Hall, and what we were able to do together on the McCarthy Apartments,” Zenger said.
