Silvio De Sousa, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound senior power forward from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., has committed to the Kansas men’s basketball team, his guardian Fenny Falmagne told The Star on Wednesday.
De Sousa, who is ranked No. 25 nationally by Rivals, visited KU’s campus last week. A native of Angola who started playing basketball at age 9, De Sousa was reportedly considering KU, Maryland, Florida, Louisville, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Syracuse and others.
This is the first commitment for KU in the 2018 class. The Jayhawks also have three transfers — Dedric and K.
