Another hope for a Kansas conference win disappeared Saturday night amid a sea of burnt-orange defenders and costly turnovers.
The Jayhawks lost for a FBS-record 45th time on the road as Texas scored four touchdowns and forced two interceptions in the opening quarter in a 42-27 win at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Reminiscent of the last meeting between the two programs, a Kansas miscue on the opening play of the game resulted in a deep touchdown by Texas. The Jayhawks tried an onside kick on the opening kickoff Saturday, but Texas came up with the ball and scored on the next play.
