KU basketball's Perry Ellis expected to play Tuesday against Baylor after suffering eye scratch

LAWRENCE — Kansas basketball forward Perry Ellis has a scratch on his right eye but is expected to play Tuesday against Baylor, a KU Athletics official confirmed to The Capital-Journal on Sunday night.

Ellis sat out Sunday’s practice as a precautionary measure.

“Reports from the ophthalmologist was positive,” coach Bill Self said Sunday. “It is a scratch and it should heal up in a couple of days. We gave him today off and he should be able to practice tomorrow.”

Ellis left Saturday’s 72-63 victory over Kansas State in Manhattan with 1:19 left to play. Teammate Wayne Selden inadvertently delivered the blow to the eye of Ellis, who would not return.
