KU associate AD Scott Ward shows some progress after surgery to repair torn aorta

Robin Ward wrote a powerful, promising message on Facebook on Sunday afternoon concerning her husband, Scott, Kansas’ associate athletic director for academic and career counseling who had emergency surgery on Friday night at the University of Kansas Hospital.

“Today is a good good day #rootforscoot,” was the report, which received 312 “likes” by 7 p.m.

Indeed, KU associate athletic director Jim Marchiony said that Ward, who suffered a tear in his aorta Friday, had made some progress while being treated in intensive care.

“Scooter is sleepy, but when awake he is occasionally opening his eyes and responding to comments,” Marchiony said in a text message Sunday night from the hospital.
