The first game will always have jitters. Players will be nervous – simple plays they’ve run 1,000 times will be completely new to them. Getting caught up in the moment becomes easy. After the first few minutes, though, players will settle down and there is a groove to the game – habits start to take over and coaches begin to see the team that they’ve been in a gym with for the last few weeks. Once these habits, good and bad, rear their head, coaches begin to get an understanding of what they are good at and what they aren’t.
