Despite winless season, Beaty instills positivity into KU football

LAWRENCE — Following a drive-ending false start penalty, Kansas coach David Beaty pulled senior center Keyon Haughton aside on the sidelines. Beaty was able to make light of a bad moment in the game and make Haughton smile.

This can be a hard thing to do when coaching and 0-10 team. But Beaty feels it is important to remind his players at the end of the day, football is a game.

“The players are still going hard every day,” offensive coordinator Rob Likens said. “And that’s because of the environment coach Beaty has instilled.”

Likens said he’s astonished by how hard the team goes at practice, and that they are truly giving 110 percent every single day.
