LAWRENCE — David Beaty made it clear last spring that Kansas would be a priority with his team’s recruiting efforts.
The new KU coach organized a “Kansas blast,” splitting the state into sections with the goal of having an assistant coach make it to every high school that fielded a football team.
If KU did make inroads in the Sunflower State, it wasn’t immediately apparent when looking at the 2016 recruiting class. Beaty, who officially signed 15 players Wednesday, did so with only two hailing from Kansas: Wichita native and juco transfer DeeIsaac Davis and Lawrence safety Bryce Torneden.
