LAWRENCE — Since arriving at Kansas, David Beaty preached that his team would pay extra attention to special teams.
So far, that hasn’t helped much.
“I've always felt like that was a controllable, and we haven't controlled that one,” the Kansas coach said. “That one right there is sticking in my side right now.”
KU’s biggest area of concern is the punt team, which ranks among the nation’s worst.
The Jayhawks’ 34.1 yards per punt ranks 126th out of 128 teams. Starter Eric Kahn was benched against Baylor in favor of Ruben Guzman, who only managed 30 yards per punt on his two attempts.
