Could newcomer be KU's heir apparent to Tony Pierson?

LAWRENCE — On Wednesday afternoon, Kansas running backs coach Reggie Mitchell brought Ke’aun Kinner into his office for a standard end-of-spring meeting.

Mitchell hoped the 5-foot-9 newcomer left the get-together encouraged.

“I told him we’re excited he’s here and we’re happy he’s here,” Mitchell said, “because he’s been a bright spot for us so far.”

From outside appearances, KU’s running back position appears to be the rare spot where the team is loaded with depth. Corey Avery and De’Andre Mann return as the team’s two leading rushers, and Taylor Cox is back after contributing when he was healthy three years ago.
