LAWRENCE — Kansas quarterback Ryan Willis found coach David Beaty on the sideline after taking his first big hit last week against Iowa State.
“Coach,” the freshman said with a smile, “he just knocked the dog out of me.”
Beaty chuckled when recalling the story Tuesday.
“It was a little bit humorous at the time,” Beaty said, “but it actually kind of made me feel comfortable knowing that he wasn't going to back down from that.”
The Overland Park native knows there will be more hits coming Saturday, as he’ll make his first career start in KU’s 11 a.
