Bill Self says Devonte’ Graham rock solid in ‘Robin’-type role

LAWRENCE — Playing alongside a pair of Wooden Award candidates this season has arguably led to a lower profile for Devonte’ Graham.

But as Kansas coach Bill Self warns, don’t mistake the junior guard’s consistency for mediocrity.

“I think he’s played well,” Self said Thursday. “He probably hasn’t stood out in large part because Frank (Mason) has probably had the ball more, but he’s been solid. He’s been rock solid.”

Graham is averaging 13.3 points and 4.4 assists this season, both slightly up from totals posted during his breakout sophomore campaign (11.3 points, 3.7 assists). However, his strong finish to the 2015-16 season — including a 27-point performance at Oklahoma and a Big 12 Tournament MVP award — has perhaps left KU fans wanting more from Graham.
