Beaty: Bye week beneficial for KU football

LAWRENCE — Following a devastating Week 1 loss to South Dakota State and a blowout loss to Memphis in Week 2, Kansas coach David Beaty had a little fun with the bye week.

While Beaty still stressed that it was important to continue to practice hard and prepare for the next game, he also made sure there was some fun and competition mixed into things.

“We did things like line the big guys up on the goal line for seven-on-sevens,” Offensive coordinator Rob Likens said. “They seemed to have a lot of fun with it.”

Junior Fish Smithson said it was important to loosen up during the bye and not take things too seriously.
