Affidavit: Woman says ex-KU football player warned, ‘I’ll shoot your kneecaps out’

The girlfriend of former Kansas football player Maciah Long claims he threatened her by loading a handgun during an argument, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Douglas County District Court.

The three-page document, released to The Star on Wednesday, reveals further details regarding Long’s Aug. 20 arrest, which resulted in him being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a felony, and two misdemeanors: criminal damage to property and marijuana possession. KU football coach David Beaty dismissed Long from the team on Aug. 21.

According to the affidavit, the woman, 20, told the reporting officer that the couple had an argument in Long’s apartment, which also was her primary residence.
