Numerous other home run records had already been set entering Tuesday night's action. MLB had already seen players record multi-homer games on 374 occasions, surpassing the previous record of 362 set in 1999. A record 231 players had hit at least 10 home runs this season, while 110 had clubbed at least 20, on pace to break the single-season mark of 111 players from last year.

Incredibly, 153 players had hit at least 15 home runs through Monday's games, while only 149 players had totaled enough plate appearances to qualify for the two leagues' batting titles.
