There’s an idea that most of us subscribe to built around making communication easier. It’s easier when we talk to folks if we use a shorter phrase to mean a longer phrase. You see this on Twitter and Social Media all the time. We use emoji’s and abbreviations like SMH to convey a host of emotions. One SMH on a text from your wife could mean six hours of trouble when you get home. The same is true in sports. We shorten games down to key elements and we like to name important games so we can talk about them quickly.
