The Royals recorded their sixth walk-off win of the season on Friday and third on this homestand (also, Sunday vs. Texas and Wednesday vs. Detroit) on Whit Merrifield’s walk-off, sacrifice fly, his second career walk-off RBI (also, two-run double on June 23 vs. Toronto).
It was their 28th comeback win of the season, most in the American League.
In the fourth inning, Merrifield had a two-run double, to extend his hitting streak vs. the AL Central to 22 games (since May 19), in which he’s batting .360/.396/.584 (32-for-89). According to STATS LLC, it’s the longest intra-division hitting streak in club history.
