Salvy splashes walk off grand slam for Royals’ 8-4 victory over Twins

This was the best kind of Salvy splash.

The water and sports beverage from buckets landed on Salvador Perez soon after he crossed home plate, the finishing strides of a walk-off grand slam that beat the Twins 8-4.

Perez flexed his muscles as he worked his way toward home plate and the Royals have done the same thing at Kauffman Stadium lately. Friday’s victory was their 12 in the last 14 home games.

The Royals entered the ninth inning trailing 4-3. Rosell Herrera’s one-out double got the rally started. He scored in Whit Merrifield’s single. A single by Adalberto Mondesi got Merrifield to third, and after Alex Gordon was intentionally walked, the Twins adjusted their defense, using five infielders.
