A day after one of the Royals’ “core four” players from their 2015 World Series championship team left via free agency, another could soon return.
The Royals are working on an agreement to bring back shortstop Alcides Escobar, the MVP of the 2015 American League Championship Series, a source with knowledge of the negotiations told The Star. FanRag Sports reported Escobar had agreed to a contract pending a physical but the Royals have yet to announce a deal.
On Thursday, Lorenzo Cain agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.
