The Royals will be represented next week when former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow holds an open baseball workout Aug. 30 in Los Angeles.
Tebow, 29, has expressed interest in a second career after his football career stalled in recent years. According to an ESPN report, close to 20 teams are expected to be in attendance.
“I’m sure we’ll send somebody,” Royals general manager Dayton Moore said Wednesday, while watching batting practice at Marling Park.
Tebow, who was listed at 6 foot 3 and 245 pounds during his football days, last played baseball as a high school junior at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
