The Royals signed their first-round draft pick, high school first baseman Nick Pratto, and introduced him on Monday.
“We’re bringing in one heck of a player, an incredible talent,” Royals director of scouting Lonnie Goldberg said. “For us, as a staff, to be able to complete this day and share this day is truly an honor.”
Pratto’s deal of $3.45 million, reported by MLB.com, was not confirmed by the team.
He was the 14th overall draft selection. He and his parents, Jeff and Laura, flew to Kansas City on Sunday.
Royals scout Rich Amaral has known Pratto for a decade.
