Royals sign first-round pick Brady Singer

The Royals have signed first-round pick Brady Singer to a contract with a $4.25 million bonus. The University of Florida junior was the 18th-overall pick in last month’s draft with an assigned slot bonus value of $3,349,300. Singer was named the Dick Howser Trophy winner for the top college baseball player this year after going 12-3 with a 2.55 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 113 innings. Along with teammate Jackson Kowar, a pitcher taken in the supplemental round by the Royals, the Gators advanced to the College World Series this year.

The signing leaves fifth-round pick Eric Cole, an outfielder out of Arkansas, as the lone Royals draft pick in the first ten rounds that is still unsigned.
