Service time is always a hot topic with top prospects, but this situation is especially interesting. With the way the 2020 schedule works out, the Royals don’t plan to slot a fifth starter until April 10. That’s 16 days after Opening Day — there are 187 days in an MLB season; MLB views 172 days in the bigs as a full year of service time — but maybe it will not matter at all.
