NEW YORK
For reliever Peter Moylan, Wednesday included a round of golf, a couple slices of pizza and a relaxing night after throwing a scoreless inning in a day game at Class AAA Omaha.
He was all set to turn in and get a good night’s rest — and then the telephone rang. Omaha manager Brian Goldberg was calling with unexpected news. Moylan, a 37-year-old Australian and veteran of nine big-league seasons, was heading back to the major leagues. He had a 6:20 a.m. flight to New York.
“My friends back home have started calling me the old man,” said Moylan, who was born in Attadale, Western Australia.
