Royals release outfielder Travis Snider, re-sign reliever Peter Moylan to minor-league deal

The Royals pruned their spring training roster on Wednesday, releasing outfielder Travis Snider. They also re-signed reliever Peter Moylan to a minor-league deal.

Snider, a former top prospect, came to camp as a non-roster invitee after signing a minor-league deal in the offseason. He batted .262 with (11 for 42) with two homers while appearing in 21 games. His chances to make the team lessened as outfielder Reymond Fuentes (.389) and utility man Whit Merrifield (.386) excelled during camp.

Snider came up through the Toronto Blue Jays’ system. He spent last season with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles.
