Royals recall Kyle Isbel

The Royals have recalled outfielder Kyle Isbel from Triple-A Omaha and have placed outfielder Michael A. Taylor on the family medical emergency list for undisclosed reasons. Isbel initially made the Royals Opening Day roster to begin the season, but was demoted after hitting .265/.306/.324 with a 42 percent strikeout rate in 36 plate appearances.

Isbel continued to struggle initially for Omaha, but went on a tear beginning in June and was hitting .269/.357/.444 with 15 HR in 105 games overall. The 24-year old left-handed hitter was originally a third-round pick out of UNLV in the 2018 draft. He has played primarily centerfield for Omaha, and he joins Edward Olivares as centerfield options for the Royals with Taylor out.
