Kansas City Royals prospects J.C. Cloney and Marcelo Martinez earned pitching awards in their respective leagues over the week of July 30- August 6.
Cloney earned Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week honors by posting a 0.71 ERA (1 ER in 12.2 IP) with 13 strikeouts in two starts for Idaho Falls.
The left-hander limited Orem to one run on four hits over 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts in a 7–1 win on July 30 and shutout Grand Junction for 6.0 innings in a 4–3 win on Aug. 4.
The 24-year-old was a ninth-round selection of the Royals in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Arizona.
